Human Race Procedure/Instructions

A How-To-Guide and Referesher Course on how to facilitate and participate in the Human Race.

1. Register yourself/your organization for the Human Race. Individual Reg Organization Reg
2. Get interested in creating a team. Designate a team leader, and recruit friends, family and coworkers to join your team. Team Registration Form
3. Start collecting pledges and providing funders with the donation receipt. Many participants host local events and activities to help them reach their fundraising goals.
4. Gather completed forms and donations and turn them into the Volunteer Center with a completed Transmittal Form.
5. Join us on May 10, 2008 for the Human Race to walk or run and turn in your final pledges on the same day at the Registration Table.

The Human Race offers a great way for you to raise money for your favorite non-profit or school program. Just simply complete the organization registration form and send it in to the Volunteer Center.

Many academic, athletic and faith based groups throughout Silicon Valley have found the Human Race to be a perfect opportunity for group members to fundraise while participating in an activity that builds teamwork, leadership and awareness. Adding the right pre-race activities and cheerleading to your organization's race day participation can produce a substantial return for your community and employees. Our development department is happy to help present a tailored program to your group for involvement in the race.

Requirements are as follows:
Organizations
-any with a 501(c)3 status
Clubs
-any with a 501(c)3 status or
-any affiliated with, and under the direction of a School or Church

*Any organization, that does not have the 501(c)3 filing status at the time can still participate. Funds will be held in escrow by the Volunteer Center of Silicon Valley until the filing is complete.

Collecting Pledges

Participants/Organizations are encouraged to collect pledge money and turn it into the Volunteer Center of Silicon Valley. All pledge checks must be made payable to "The Human Race" along with information on who the funds should be designated to.

Pledge deposits, in person, will be accepted Monday-Friday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm at the Volunteer Center of Silicon Valley until December 31.

Funds may also be mailed (please do not send cash). Note: All pledge deposits must be accompanied by a transmittal form.

Participants wishing to build a customized web page that can be used to promote your participation in the Human Race along with family and friends while collecting pledges are highly encouraged to do so.

All participants who turn in pledge revenues, and pledge gatherers are entitled to a Human Race t-shirt and goodies bag. Human Race t-shirts will be limited to one per participant. However, additional shirts are available at $10.00 each.
