RACE DAY: SATURDAY, TBD

Human Race

Dear Friend of the Human Race,

It is with regret that we have to inform you that after our last Board of Directors meeting, there was a decision not to hold the Annual Human Race of Silicon Valley on its traditionally scheduled date, Saturday May 9, 2009. We anticipate reintroducing this event at a later date.

The Volunteer Center understands that this action may have an impact on your organizations annual fundraising plans for May of this year and are truly sorry for any disruption. However, as we have witnessed throughout Santa Clara County and the country, the nonprofit sector has been severely affected by the ongoing turmoil in the economy. Many have been surprised by recently witnessing several large, local non-profit organizations which have had to close their doors. As the annual Human Race Event producer, we have also been impacted by these events and realities and must spend the next year restructuring and reorganizing in order to stay in business. As a result, the Volunteer Center Board of Directors has chosen at this juncture to dedicate board member and professional staff time and organizational resources to concentrate its energy and resources on fundraising activities to sustain our own organization.

Thank you for your continuing support and understanding. We thank you for your interest and participation in the Human Race and hope to bring you another opportunity in the future. Should you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to call us at 408-247-1126.

Activities include a USA Track and Field (USATF) certified 10K and a 5K Run, 5K Pledge Walk and a 5K Dog Walk. The course is flat and wheelchair accessible. Roller blades, scooters and strollers are welcome on the walk course. Pledge walkers with leashed dogs have a separate course.
